FAQ on Dermal Fillers

1What Are Dermal Fillers?
Fillers are popular treatments used for softening wrinkles, laughter lines, facial lines and wrinkles caused naturally by ageing or sun exposure. Combined with a local anaesthetic, dermal fillers are injected into the skin to give your face a natural volume, leaving your skin completely hydrated and youthful.
2How Dermal Fillers Work ?
We use a range of premium dermal filler products that can help you achieve the desired result. It will depend on the area being treated as to which product our qualified practitioners would recommend as the most suitable. Juvederm is best for lip fillers and Perfectha is for wrinkle fillers . Facial fillers can help plump up your skin, smooth wrinkles and fill out deep lines by replacing the collagen lost due to natural ageing or skin damage. Premium dermal fillers Juvederm® and Perfectha® are injected in small controlled doses just under the surface of skin of the area to be treated. This fills out the sunken areas and lines to give a smoother, firmer and more refreshed appearance. Depending on the type of dermal filler used, results can last from 6 to 24 months.
3What Does Dermal Filler Treatment Involve?
Small amounts of dermal filler are injected directly into the skin using an ultrafine needle. After cleansing the area to be treated, a numbing cream will be applied. This ensures the injections administered by the qualified doctor or nurse will only cause minor discomfort. The gel administered helps to plump up the skin to smooth out lines and wrinkles. If the lips or facial contours are being treated, the filler adds volume, restores shape and gives a fuller, fresher appearance. Dermal filler treatments are only carried out by fully qualified in our modern, regulated and well-equipped clinics.
4Will I Look Dramatically Different?
No. Our practitioners work like artists, using the natural contours of your face for guidance. Your normal facial expressions will remain unaffected. During your free consultation your doctor will discuss the best plan for you for subtle effects.
5What Happens at My Free Consultation?
Our in-depth consultations are the best in the industry. It's important to us that you achieve the results you want, and we believe this starts with a great consultation. You will never be rushed and our highly trained practitioners will take the time to discuss aspects of your skin you may be unhappy with, your desired results, costs and timings. Our aim is for you to leave your consultation feeling confident, fully informed and looking forward to your treatment.
6Does the Treatment Hurt?
For most patients, it can be uncomfortable but definitely bearable. We offer all patients a topical numbing cream to make it more comfortable. The Juvederm range of lip fillers that we use already come with an anaesthetic in them (lidocaine) which combats any pain.
